Frequently Asked Questions

  • We work in-person in Saint Louis Park, MN and online state-wide. In-person sessions are held at 4601 Excelsior Blvd in suite 411.

    Through 2026, we have limited tele-health sessions available for those located in Virginia or Washington, DC at the time of their session.

  • We work with individuals 18+ navigating tough relationships and hard life situations. We also work with those responding to a wide variety of traumas, which can occur in many forms and if left unaddressed, can have residual impact. If there are challenges you're facing that we are not equipped to support, we will let you know immediately and will be sure to guide you to a trusted therapist equipped to provide effective support.

  • A consultation call is a great way to see if Grounding Waters is a good fit for your needs. You may feel that you're outside the scope of our practice, yet a short call can help both of us know for sure!

    During your free 15-minute consultation, we will discuss any and all questions you have - about therapy, goals, symptoms - all of the things. If we’re not the best to support your journey, we will absolutely give you info for another therapist that we trust.

  • If you're interested in Grounding Waters, you can set up a free 15-minute consultation.

    Current clients can log in to the secure portal via Sessions Health to schedule a follow-up session.

  • Individual sessions are 50 minutes and can be scheduled at the top of the hour.

    Emergency sessions are possible when available - please contact your therapist directly through the Sessions Health portal.

  • We are a cash pay only practice. We do not accept insurance at this time.

    We offer Superbills following each session; these are used to obtain out-of-network reimbursement and are to be directly submitted to your insurance company. Superbills can be provided after each session or at the end of each month.

  • We use a secure, HIPAA-compliant version of zoom for all tele-health sessions. There are no special downloads necessary for the well-known Zoom app to run the HIPPA-secure connections. You can access tele-health sessions using a smartphone, ipad, or computer.

    You will receive an email reminder for each session. This email contains the link needed to join your session - It's an easy click & then you’re ready to go!

    Phone sessions are also available. For these, a working phone and number is all you will need!

  • Many clients find it helpful to keep a list (on paper, on their phone, in their brain) of the things they want to talk through. This could be a behavior, a thought, a relationship, or any life interaction or event.

    Sometimes new events happen, memories come to mind, you notice self-talk, take note of reflections on a therapy homework topic, or test out a new communication pattern between sessions. All of these may be things you want to discuss with your therapist.

    Ultimately, your therapist is following your energy lead - take charge and bring up all the meaningful things!

  • As a nonprofit, we offer accessible, high quality counseling. For those living and working in the 55130 zip code of Saint Paul, MN, we offer a 12-session bundle of free counseling sessions. For those living outside of this zip code, we offer below-market-rate fees for counseling sessions. We provide superbills to allow you to request for reimbursement from your insurance company for out of network counseling services.
